Welcome to Long Meadow Elementary School!

Principal's Message

Ten years from now, when our Long Meadow Elementary students are on their way to becoming teenagers or already young adults, they will look back at this time in their childhood and reflect on what it was like to go to school wearing a mask, sitting several feet apart, and washing or sanitizing their hands multiple times daily.  There will be fond memories of mask breaks and accidentally dropped video calls and there will be other memories of being quarantined or missing out on expected events.  They say that challenges bring out the best in people, and Mr. Rogers said that we should “...look for the helpers…” whenever things get scary.  I could not be more proud of our Long Meadow community, a community that has pulled together to support and be there for one another in times of great need, a PTO that has helped to purchase outdoor seating or extra technology for teachers, a staff who has shown up day after day and weathered all that 2020 and 2021 has had to offer with grit, determination, all while keeping our students and their well-being at the forefront of everything that we do.  While we all hope for things to return to normal soon, I want to take a moment to reflect back on this year and I want to give overwhelming thanks to our parents, our staff, and our students - together, we have turned this year into a success.  We kept learning, we kept teaching, we kept supporting each other, and we did it as a team!  I hope that everyone has a wonderful summer and I look forward to next year and the start of a new adventure!
